Wayne Pickett

Wayne Pickett, 81, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, January 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born on April 28, 1943, in Gilmer, Upsher County, Texas to the late Earl Pickett and Estelle (McKinley) Pickett.

He met Ruth Blake, the love of his life, and they were married on June 3, 1995, in Lubbock.

Wayne worked in the food industry, having been the manager of Albertson’s for 32 years, before retiring in 2005. He loved to work in his yard, help with the cleaning of his church, and was dedicated to visiting and ministering to the shut-ins at church. Previously, he had been a member of Temple Baptist Church but has currently been a member of Bethany Baptist Church for the last 10 years.

Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his wife, Ruth Pickett; two sons: Casey Rondel Braly of Dickens and Robbie Wayne Pickett of Australia; one daughter, Teresa Edwards and husband Darrell, of Artesia, New Mexico; two stepsons, Corey Davis and wife Deanna of Lubbock and Craig Davis of Ashland, Kentucky; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Betty Mason and Inez Oliveraz.
