William Wayne Matney

William Matney, age 80, passed away on August 19, 2023.William was born on November 7, 1942, in Paducah, TX to Wortham Matney and Bertha Renfro.

William married Trudy Jaehn of Lubbock, Texas on September 6, 1969, in Taylor, Michigan. They spent 54 years of marriage together and welcomed one son, David Matney into the world. He had a great love for his family and was very hard working. He spent most of his working years as an iron worker in the construction field.

William had a love for adventure and lived life to the fullest. There was nothing on his bucket list that was left undone. He enjoyed race cars, sky diving, and bowling.One of his favorite things to do was go hunting with his friend, Johnny.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

William is survived by his wife, Trudy Matney; one son, David Matney (Ann) of Taylor Michigan; two sisters, Jean Nichols of Pekin, Illinois, and Patsy Jones of Pekin, Illinois; two granddaughters, Victoria Huber, and Kristin Benner; three great- grandchildren; and his very close friends, Brad Vinson of Lubbock, Texas, and Johnny Rekieta of Weatherford, Texas.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Matney; and one sister, Winona Johnston.
