Ynez Servin

April 20, 1929 — May 13, 2024

Our dear mother, Maria Ynez Servin (Tienda) was born on April 20, 1929 in Cuero, Texas to Alfredo and Leandra Garcia. She departed her earthly tabernacle to be in the presence of our Lord Jesus on May 13, 2024, at the age of 95. She was a resident of Lubbock, Texas, since 1974 having previously lived in other cities and towns in Texas and in Colorado. She and our beloved dad, Joe C. Tienda, were married on November 20, 1949, in Elsa, Texas. The Lord blessed them with eight children, Joe (Delia), Alfredo (Adela), Yolanda (Jim), Efrain (Tabitha), Mary Ann (widowed, Felipe), Gilbert (Laura), Bonifacio (deceased) and David (Nancy).

On December 31, 1968, our dad, Joe, who was a faithful minister of the Lord Jesus departed to be with our Lord. Our mother continued faithfully forward in raising us children, doing all in her power to seek our material and spiritual wellbeing. At that time our ages ranged from 6 months to 18 years. She was very diligent in continuing to train us up in the ways of the Lord. Our parents set forth a worthy example to follow in their love for God and service to others.

In 1970 our mom married Jose Servin, also a faithful minister and pastor in the Lord’s service.  In 1974 they moved our family from Levelland, Texas, to Lubbock. The Lord allowed them to purchase a small sanctuary in the Arnett Benson area with the vision of providing a place for her children to worship the Lord. Our stepfather was the pastor with our mom faithfully serving at his side until he departed to be with the Lord on January 8, 1997. In fulfillment of her vision and desire several of her children to this day continue to worship the Lord at this same sanctuary.

By God’s grace and mercy she is survived by all of her children with the exception of Bonifacio who passed away in 1965, a few months after his birth. The Lord also granted her and our father to leave a legacy of 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Our mom was preceded in death by her parents, Alfredo and Leandra, and also by her brothers, Antonio Garcia , Trinidad Garcia, Daniel Garcia, Ernesto Garcia and Valentine Garcia, and also by her sisters Concepcion Flores, Petra Quintanilla, Eulalia Flores and Sarah Garza.

By God’s grace she is survived by her sister, Juanita Tamez.
