Zana Gandy, 82, of Andrews, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, March 23, 2022. She was born on May 19, 1939, in O'Donnell, Lynn County, Texas, to the late Horace Eugene Henley and Foya Eddie (Garrison) Henley.
Zana attended school in Lorenzo, graduating with the Senior Class of 1957. Following graduation, she married Freddy Gandy on June 5, 1957, in Lorenzo. She later attended nursing school at South Plains College, graduating in 1989. She worked for many years at the former Methodist and St. Mary of the Plains Hospitals in Lubbock, as well as other medical facilities. Zana retired from nursing in 2011 and her family noted that she probably retired from more jobs than most ever have.
She enjoyed her family most all, being very family oriented and doing everything for them. Canning foods and cooking for her family was most enjoyable to her. And she always enjoying having a cat. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include one daughter, Debbie Newbrough and husband Jay of Andrews; one son, Joe Gandy and wife Terri of Amarillo; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, David Gandy in 2004; a grandson, Brad Newbrough in 2012 and brothers Bobby Ray Henley and Horace Henley.
Visitation for Zana will be from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday, March 25, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel with Reverend Brant O'Connor of First Baptist Church in Andrews officiating. Final rites and interment will follow at 2 PM in the Sundown Cemetery in Sundown, Texas under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
Pallbearers will be Joe Dan Newbrough, Kyle Newbrough, Ryan Newbrough, Eddy Gandy, Ernest Gandy and Eddy Henley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Zana's memory to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 375 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.
